Editorial policy

This policy describes how the PlayTheDream newsroom decides what to publish, how it keeps commercial interests apart from journalism, and what happens when we get something wrong.

1. Independence

The newsroom commissions, writes and edits everything editorial. Advertisers, subscribers, data suppliers and other parts of the publisher's business cannot steer our coverage. No outside party reviews copy before publication.

We do not offer or promote betting. PlayTheDream has no partnerships with betting operators, takes none of their advertising and never links to them.

2. Sponsored content is labelled

If we ever publish material paid for by a partner, it carries a visible Sponsored label above the headline and in every card that links to it, and the partner is named. Sponsored material is never written by the editorial desks and never appears inside match centres or data tables. Partnerships are limited to sports-related brands such as equipment makers, streaming services and ticketing platforms.

3. Sources and fact-checking

  • Results, events and statistics are compiled by the desks from official competition sources and cross-checked against a second reference where one exists; each match centre links to its source (see Data Sources). We run no automated scrapers.
  • Rules and format explainers are checked against the governing body's published regulations before publication and again whenever those regulations change.
  • Every article shows a publication date and, when it has been revised, an updated date.
  • Images on the site are either our own graphics or licensed, and carry an attribution line.

4. Language we avoid

Match coverage sticks to previews, analysis, recent form, past meetings and key statistics. Nothing we write treats a match as something to put money on, and no page shows a numeric chance of any result.

5. Corrections

A confirmed mistake gets fixed on the page that same day, and the change is recorded with its date on the corrections page. Readers can report a problem to corrections@playthedream.com.

6. How we make money
